Japanese craft revival after earthquake –
support the small Artists and People with us.

There are many things going on in this world right now –
as well in Japan, Jan 1, 2024 a powerfull earthquake hit Japan.

The reports coming in over the past weeks have of course been a relief to
hear people alive, but the damage they have sustained, the lives they have lost,
their homes, studio, tools and sustenance have been devastating.

But they are not at their wits' end;
they are staying calm and moving forward.

What we could do from here is small but at least we can encourage
them by sending our thought with support.

In autumn 2022, we visited an old family lacquer studio in Wajima, where many lacquer were born, raised,
stored and passed on, and artists in the suburbs of NOTO peninsula, Kanazawa, Toyama and Niigata.

The works themselves are treasures, and the tools used to make them, the craftsmen,
the people involved who have continued to make and protect them, and all
their lives could have been lost in an instant.

Even though this is a natural disaster, we have been speechless since the beginning of the year.

At HARAISO, we want to do all we can to help.

What we could do from here is small but at least we can encourage them by sending our thought with support.
We hope that the gentle sunlight filtering through the trees will return to the hearts of those affected as soon as possible.
