Through our handicraft, concentration and skill we give an object a new value, a personal expression and a new life. We learned about the history, principles and various patterns of this centuries-old Japanese technique and how to apply it.

Sharpening Japanese Knives
Even the best knives need some attention from time to time. If a knife can no longer cut through a tomato with its own weight, it should be resharpened. It is a true pleasure when the blades of Japanese kitchen knives are brought back to their old sharpness. This can be achieved by following a few rules and taking the time to practice.
Kentaro Onishi showed us the craftsmanship of traditional sharpening in simple and practical steps, so you can bring the blade of your own knife to the old sharpness and maintain the sharpness for a longer period.

What is Mochi Pounding?
In Japan, year-end mochi pounding (餅つき, mochitsuki) is a traditional custom to prepare for the New Year. Freshly made mochi is offered to the New Year deity (Toshigami-sama) as a symbol of gratitude and prayer for health, prosperity, and family harmony in the coming year. Mochi, known for its stretchy and unbroken nature, also represents longevity and good fortune. This event is not only a cultural ritual but also an opportunity for families and communities to come together and strengthen their bonds.
